Description:

Better Diplomacy fine tunes the balance between the AI acting in a predictable, understandable matter while still retaining the capability to surprise the player. The end goal is an experience that resembles the depth of the Europa Universalis IV and Galactic Civilizations II but in a Total War game.

Features:
  • Long Term Deals Encouraged – NAP, Military Access, Coalition, Alliances, Vassals, and Trade worth less upfront but more the longer you have them now. Comes with longer treachery timer before declaring war scaled with treaty type.
  • Warmongering Discouraged – declaring war annoys target + their friends more (but you’re penalized less by friends of aggressor when declared war ON)
  • More Coalitions – Reduced/remove main threat penalty for creating new coalitions (not for inviting new members or transitioning to alliance)
  • Proximity Intelligence – Far away enemies are more likely to sue for peace, not less likely. Factions more likely to opt for war against nearby factions than distant ones.
  • Fight for Independence – Factions more likely to declare independence when supported by a militarily strong faction
  • Vassals – harder to coerce into, easier to talk into when they’re weak + you have good relations
  • Territory Buying – territories are more expensive to purchase from AI, primarily when they own the commandery’s city and/or it produces food while they’re in a shortage
  • Vassal Treachery Fix – Fixes most/all instances where defending a vassal would incur treachery. (Removed after 1.4 due to crashing – hopefully CA got it fixed this time.)

Compatibility
You can use this mid-campaign, but may incur some surprising penalties depending on how you acted. It can be removed just as easily though so no worries. There’s no specific English text in this mod. It is all language compatible.

Try my other mods to maximize immersion, game logic, and campaign dynamism:

Dynamic Campaign+ – Splits the Han empire in the main campaign, increases the maximum potential threat of minor and major factions, and adds new unique benefits to the five minister positions.
Guanxi Overhaul – Enhanced Relationships, Events, and Stories – Adds around 1,000 trait-driven events (including banquets) that greatly impact how generals form friendships/rivalries and brings the Guanxi relationship system to life. You’ll care a lot more about all of your generals with this mod, even the generics.
