Granada Reborn: Umayyad Expansion
Greetings to all Sultans and Caliphs, and Happy New Year. Are you already tired of the unchanging situation on the Iberian Peninsula? Are you bored of seeing Western Europe completely dominated by Christianity?
Historically, Granada managed to persist in Iberia for about 150 years, but in the game it is often completely wiped out within 30 years.
There is a lack of events, a lack of unique reforms, and a lack of gameplay depth. Starting as a duchy, allying with Morocco and Tunisia easily exceeds diplomatic relation limits. Cultural capacity is also insufficient to accommodate multiple cultures. The prestige required to upgrade to a kingdom is extremely difficult to obtain, and there are no alternative formable nations to provide a fallback option. Even if you defeat Castile, you are likely to be crushed by subsequent coalitions; even if you conquer North Africa, you will find your military strength insufficient to compete with Western European powers.
To address these issues, this mod officially comes into play.
Through a large number of events, reforms, and formable nations, this mod gives Granada a real chance to turn the tide, creating a new Islamic era in Iberia.
Version 3.1 introduces the Granada Situation Mod. As its design is not yet fully mature, it is currently split into two mods, and some events have been migrated into the situation mod. It is recommended to subscribe to both for gameplay; otherwise, unknown bugs may occur. (Due to simultaneous development, the two mods share and call each other’s data. They will be merged into one once development is complete.)

(After version 5.0, ongoing updates are adjusting the event storyline. A narrative centered on the revival, development, and glory of the Umayyad family is being designed. Subscribing only to this mod will result in less content over time until the storyline is complete, after which the content will be rebalanced.)
✨ Overview of New Content
Vanilla events: 5 → Nearly 120 events added across both mods → Increased to 200 events in v6.1 (most newly added events are standard events selected from Castile and other nations, chosen to avoid immersion-breaking content)
Historical releasable nations in Iberia expanded to 32
Formable nations in Iberia expanded to approximately 17
Two imperial routes with ongoing storyline development
Exclusive government reforms (9 new reforms, requiring conditions and with limitations)
Multiple enhanced estate privileges
v2.0 adds an opening war between Castile and Aragon to prevent a three-nation Iberian alliance
5 new special government reforms, similar to the Ottomans, providing more early administrative slots
Capital relocation events to overcome Granada’s mountainous geographic disadvantage (Jaén and Córdoba have events that grant direct integration)
v5.0 adds two Crusades against Andalusia within the situation mod
v6.0 introduces special laws triggered via events
v6.0 introduces the Umayyad Reformed Religion, triggered after forming the Umayyad Kingdom. Compared to Sunni Islam, it is more friendly toward Christianity and allows alcohol trade (currently set to trigger via a 1340 event for testing; dedicated events and laws will be added later)
👑 Formable Empire Routes
v6.0 Changes:
Empire Route 1: Granada → Andalusia → Western Rome → Roman Empire
Empire Route 2: Granada → Andalusia → Umayyad Caliphate Kingdom → Arabian Empire
🏙 Special Vassal System
v2.0 Update: Introduces new Taifa-style vassals with reduced diplomatic usage; after 10 years, they can be annexed at 2.5× speed (moved to the situation mod in v3.1)
v3.0 Update: Adds a Morocco vassal event forming a composite state, which can be annexed at 10× speed after 50 years (moved to the situation mod in v3.1)
👑 Special Characters
Start with a 100/100/100 Umayyad descendant (can be made king → changed in v3.1 to automatically become king to support the Umayyad restoration storyline)
Includes a 70/70/70 high-quality heir
Recommended Playstyle: Subscribe to an Ottoman enhancement mod and play this mod to form Rome. This allows you to see Western Rome and Eastern Rome (in a Muslim variant) coexisting across Europe.

📌 Summary of Version 6.0 Updates
Version 6.0 focuses on organizing the event storyline following the Umayyad family’s rise to the throne of Granada, adding special law effects, and developing the unique Iberian Muslim Umayyad Reformed Religion. However, due to increasing real-life commitments, there will be fewer major updates in the coming months.
Recently, event content has been supplemented using events from Castile, Portugal, and Aragon. Designing original events requires significant time, including historical research, narrative design, and bug testing. Therefore, reusing official events is currently a faster way to expand gameplay content.
