North Pacific Map Expansion: Kamchatka and Kurils
North Pacific Map Expansion (or NPME for short) is a map expansion mod, expanding into what is nowadays the Russian Far East / Eastern Siberia.
It adds most of Kamchatka and the full Kuril Island chain to the game, alongside a new Itelmen culture. So if you’re already bored with the current map size, or just want a quiet corner at the edge of the world where nobody will bother you, this mod is for you!
The mod aims to both integrate seamlessly with the vanilla game and be historically authentic. It’s currently in an early phase without much unique mechanics, but I do plan to expand on it further over time. It’s fully playable and shouldn’t stand out compared to vanilla parts of the map in gameplay. Special mechanics like low population modifiers for the Kurils can be turned off in the game rules, making them behave like any other county on the map.
The mod also changes the projection of the map to better fit the new areas, which is based on the New Miller Cylindrical Projection mod.
It should be compatible with most other mods, as long as they don’t edit the map or landed titles
The mod currently supports English, German, Russian, Simplified Chinese and Japanese, though I can’t personally guarantee translation quality for the latter three since I don’t speak them myself.
