CoB RealCamo
Your uniform choice now matters. Based on NATO AG-SCI-095 "Guidelines for Camouflage Assessment Using Observers", this mod overhauls AI detection by dynamically adjusting how easily AI spots you based on your camo, terrain, stance, movement, vegetation, lighting, and weather.
Woodland MARPAT in a dense forest? AI will struggle to spot you. Same uniform in open desert? You stick out like a sore thumb.
Six real-world factors combine into a camouflage effectiveness score:
- Camo-Terrain Match — A woodland ghillie in forest = up to 85% concealment. Wrong camo in the wrong place can make you MORE visible.
- Stance — Prone cuts detection by 60%. Crouching = 30%. Standing = full profile.
- Movement — The #1 detection cue. Sprinting = +60% visibility. Stationary = 30% bonus.
- Vegetation — Trees and bushes break up your silhouette. Prone in dense undergrowth is far better than standing above low bushes.
- Lighting — Dark moonless nights make you nearly invisible. Dusk/dawn provide natural cover.
- Weather — Fog, rain, and overcast each independently reduce AI detection range.
Your uniform is automatically classified into one of 15 categories:
Multicam = jack-of-all-trades (40-55% everywhere, never the best).
Winter camo on non-snow terrain INCREASES visibility.
Ghillie suits in matching terrain = strongest concealment in the game.
Tiger Stripe in triple-canopy jungle = 82% concealment — historically what it was designed for.
VC Black in daylight open = the worst combination in the game; wait for night.
Any player can enable a live overlay via CBA Settings (CoB Real Camo > Client > Camo Info Popup):
Color-coded: Green (60%+), Yellow (30-59%), Orange (10-29%), Red (<10%).

- RHS — Full support (VKBO, Gorka, VSR, Partizan, Sumrak, etc.)
- Ample Camo Pack — Full support (101 patterns)
- SOG: Prairie Fire — Full support (tigerstripe, ERDL, LRRP, OG-107, NVA khaki, VC black, jungle/paddy/bamboo terrain)
- TRYK / UK3CB / BWMod / VSM — Supported
- Project OPFOR / Global Mobilization / IFA3 / Unsung — Supported
- Other mods — Auto-classified via texture analysis + conservative fallback
- CBA (optional) — Enables settings menu and per-player Camo Info Popup
- Any map, any mission — Server-side, no mission editing required, no DLC dependency
Server-only (recommended):
Add -servermod=@CoB_RealCamo. Players don’t need the mod.
Server + Client:
Add -mod=@CoB_RealCamo to enable the Camo Info Popup. Players subscribe via Workshop. Copy CoB_RealCamo.bikey from keys/ to your server’s keys/ folder.
- Server-side only — negligible client impact
- 6 players per 5-second tick (30 players = ~25s full cycle, round-robin)
- Less than 1ms server load per cycle
- Auto-throttles if server FPS drops below 15
- Uniform classification cached per classname (runs once per unique uniform)
CBA Settings: Update Interval, Units Per Tick (server), Camo Info Popup (client/per-player).
Manual Overrides: Force-classify uniforms the auto-detector gets wrong:
Unknown uniforms are logged to server RPT for easy identification.
