First a little letter:
Hi everyone, I think you guys deserve an apology for the last like 8 months, close to a year by now, since I first announced a Roman Legions mod for DeI with an amazing range of historically accurate (to my extent) legions never seen before. Im just not that type of guy who focuses on one thing until its done, at least not in trivial things like videogames. So I have been going back and forth from this to other things to leaving it completely stalemate. But after multiple turns over it like if it was paint on a wall here it is FINALLY.
****WARNING: THIS MOD WILL NOT WORK WITHOUT THE EXTRAVAGANZA ASSET PACK****
The Mod:
It has finally come to 39 Imperial Legions and 29 Marian Legions. I believe its the most detailed mod ever done
featuring the mighty Roman Legions.
Mechanics are simple, you should be able to recruit all legions when the reforms are met through the campaign. The units basically function as Legionaries and First Cohorts for the Marian reforms and Legionary Cohorts and Eagle Cohorts for the Imperial part, meaning they have the same stats and can be recruited when you can recruit the vanilla units. Of course, they are available in every campaign where you can see those units, with an special mention to Cesar in Gaul.
There is no AoR, this mechanic to me is stupid. Historically the legions were raised where there was a campaign going on and the losses were replenished right where the legion was. Those facts are just the opposite of what AoR is.
The Eagle Cohorts of each legion should be limited to 1 per army and the Legionary Cohorts to 9 per army.
After the Imperial reforms, you can upgrade all Marian units to Imperial Legions!!! A cool mechanic which i have not seen anyone take advantage of in these types of mods.
Custom historical facts are displayed on the each legion first cohort tooltip. They are not exagerated so they dont break the UI. Dont miss the chance to learn actual history about the legion that intrigue you more.
Cesar in Gaul (CiG) has received a special treatment. Only the Marian Legions that accompanied Caesar or were founded by him for his campaign to conquer the Gaul can be recruited.
The Looks:
Every Legion has his custom soldier, centurion and signifer shield pattern, the new Legions have their one based on reenactment groups following the great work of the Shield Retexture Proyect.
Every Legion has its own standard, new Legions have their one made from excellent DeviantArt recreations or from actual reenactment groups.
Extravaganza models used here, so each legion comes with custom equipment models.
