Overview
This is a significant expansion of NorX’s original mod. It extends the core "Attach Cargo" and hauling features to several other heavy-lift helicopters and vastly increases the variety of objects and vehicles you can hook and transport.
Please note: ‘XENO’ is not a dependency for this mod. If you run both simultaneously, you may encounter minor non-critical glitches like duplicated menu actions or keybind conflicts.
- Expanded "Attach Pod (Cargo)" capability: Enables the attachment action for Taru Pods and Huron containers on the CH-67 Huron, CH-49 Mohawk, while keeping it available for the ‘open’ version of Mi-290 Taru.
- Instant Hooking: Quickly connect and haul various pods, objects, and heavy vehicles that weren’t supported in the original mod.
- Custom Keybindings: Set your own keys for "Hook Heavy Object" / "Drop Ropes" and "Tow" / "Release" via the Controls menu, allowing you to use this mod alongside the vanilla ‘B’ hook action (for cargo choppers).
- Smart Positioning: While the Taru still elegantly fits pods into its belly, other helicopters will attach them securely under their frame to avoid collisions, damage, or "Kraken" explosions.
- HEMTT Flatbed towing: they are now ground hauling beasts! :-O
- Bobcats tow & AVLBs: Bobcats (not Panthers!) now not only tow vehicles behind them, but also work as Armored Vehicle-Launched Bridge (AVLB). (check the "manual" in discussions)
- Panthers (but not Bobcats!): they are now capable of build strong hubs or advanced posts upon specific building around the map.
To set your shortcuts for "Hook Heavy" and "Drop Ropes/Unhook", follow these steps while in-game:
- Press Esc -> Options -> Controls.
- Click the Configure Addons button at the bottom.
- In the dropdown menu, select "JC Lifting".
- Don’t Mix Actions: If you hook something using the vanilla ‘B’ key, unhook it using the vanilla key. If you use the "Hook Heavy" action, use "Drop Ropes". Mixing them can cause the physics to get… confused.
- Avoid the ‘B’ Key Conflict: If you have an object hooked via the "Hook Heavy" action, strictly avoid pressing the vanilla ‘B’ key. If you do, the object may become stuck. To fix this, alternate between pressing the vanilla hook and modded unhook actions several times until the object is released.
- Attach/Detach Order: If you have "attached" a pod to the frame, always select "Detach Cargo" before attempting to unhook or release it. Failure to do so may result in the pod being permanently glued to your helicopter!

- Detaching heavier vehicles: If you have "attached" a heavier APC or tank, be extra careful when you select "Detach Cargo", as the heavy weight might suddenly pull your helicopter toward the ground! It is safer to click "Drop ropes/Unhook", fly closer to the ground, and then select "Detach cargo".
- Two objects at once: There is a glitch that allows you to haul two vehicles at the same time, regardless of weight. I’ll leave it to you to discover how!
- Multiplayer: Expected to be functioning as a client-side mod on dedicated servers; full MP stress testing is ongoing – a few "global vs. local" glitches will probably happen.
- ACE Compatibility: Many special features in the config tab may require ACE. Since I don’t use ACE, please share your feedback so I can update documentation for others.
Rule of Thumb:
Most objects or vehicles that can be lifted via the vanilla ‘Hook’ (‘B’ key) will also display the "Attach Cargo" action. To ensure everything works smoothly, I highly recommend using the "Haul Heavy Object" action if you plan to use the "Attach" feature. As a reminder: always select "Detach Cargo" before attempting to release or unhook the load.
