A Project Zomboid mod that turns useless computers into fully functional machines.

You may have noticed that computers in Project Zomboid don’t really do anything besides being dismantled. This mod finally changes that.
Introducing fully functional computers with their own operating system. Computers can be reset, installed with an operating system, customized, password protected, used to browse websites, download and install games, read magazines, read newspaper, watch movies and burn CDs. Also you can chat with other players!
Want to protect the information on your computer? Set a password. Want to change the background color? Choose one of the available colors that suits your style. Want to play games? Download and play them.
There are currently 14 playable games in total. Some of these games may or may not already be installed on computers you find in the world.
If you want to install a game, you have two options:
- Find the Game CD: Find the CD, insert it into the computer, and install it through My Files.
- Download It From the Internet: Open the browser on the computer and go to knoxshare.bbs. Select the game you want to install and start the download. Once the download is complete, install the game from the Downloads folder.
Important: Downloads can take quite a long time. You do not have to stay at the computer while waiting. As long as you do not fully shut down the computer, the download will continue.
Playing games reduces boredom, stress, and sadness. However, keep in mind that losing a game will increase your stress.
A fresh operating system comes with Notepad, Browser, Paint, Calculator, Mail, Board, Chat and Music Player. The Music Player is currently non-functional.
Board (Town Board): You can use it to chat with other players who own a computer, without needing to add each other.
Chat (Knox Messenger): You can send a request to another player and chat with them privately.
The browser includes several websites, and some of them are hidden. If you check the notepad files and emails on computers you find, you may discover hidden websites.
Sometimes, computers you find may contain recipe magazines inside folders. You can read and learn them directly from the computer.
Another way to find magazines is by discovering hidden websites. These hidden websites can be found by checking the notepad files or emails on computers you come across. From these websites, you can select magazines, download them, and read them.
These computers were once used by people, and some of them may have set passwords to protect their data. There are three ways to access a password-protected computer: know the password, reset the disk, or hack it.
If you do not know the computer’s password, you will have to reset the disk or find a Hack CD.
- Hacking: First, you need to find a Hack CD. After that, insert the CD into the computer and start the hacking process from the password screen. Once you complete a small mini-game, the password will be removed. Hacking requires Electrical level 1.
- Resetting the Disk: Enter the BIOS while the computer is booting and reset the disk.
Warning: Resetting the disk will also delete the operating system.
You cannot use a computer without an operating system, so you will need to install one. You can install an operating system by finding PZ OS CDs that spawn in the world. Insert the CD into the computer and run the installation from the BIOS.
If there is a CD inserted into the computer, you can reset it. After resetting a CD, you can burn one of the games installed on that computer onto the CD.
You can then use that CD to install the game on your own computer at home. Blank CDs can also be found in the world.
You can customize your computer in several ways: set, remove, or change a password; set a profile picture; change the computer name; change the background color; create, rename, or delete folders.
You can also move desktop applications and folders by holding them down.
You can consider this mod to be in early access. There are still many features I have in mind and want to add.
The mod became much bigger than I originally expected, and since I’m developing and testing it alone, I decided to make it playable and release it. Don’t worry, the mod currently works without issues. More content will be added over time.
