Merrick’s Flavor Mod
Merrick’s Flavor Mod
Adds new flavor content for Kilwa, Granada / Al-Andalus, and Ayutthaya, with a focus on historical events, alternate-history paths, unique laws, reforms, privileges, subjects, buildings, and situations.
The goal is pretty simple: make these countries feel more alive, with more decisions, more event chains, and more country-specific toys to play with.
Current Main Content
Kilwa
Kilwa has the largest amount of content right now.
Includes:
A large early-game Kilwa event chain about the Swahili coast
New Kilwa laws, reforms, privileges, advances, and cabinet actions
New parliament issues for Kilwa
Special Trade Protectorate subject type
Madagascar colonization and consolidation content
South African / Cape colonization content
Events for the Horn of Africa, Kongo, Maldives, Indonesia, Australia, and the southern ocean
Unique buildings like House of Rare Goods Outposts, Husuni ya Kusini, and Kongolese Administration
Special events for Mombasa, Mozambique, Inhambane, Maputo, Sofala, Mbinga, Matengo, and more
Malay, Makassar, Malacca, Spice Islands, and Australian colonial flavor
New late-game “Lord of the African Sea” style content
Granada / Al-Andalus
Granada gets a survival-focused situation and a larger alternate-history restoration path.
Includes:
The Last Emirate situation
Castilian pressure, Maghrebi lifeline, court unity, and Andalusi memory mechanics
New Granada events, decisions, privileges, and reforms
Maghrebi aid options involving Morocco, Tlemcen, Tunis, and others
Al-Andalus restoration content
New Al-Andalus reforms, privileges, bureaucracies, and buildings
Special events for plague medicine, refugees, espionage, Andalusi learning, and Iberian restoration
Ayutthaya
Ayodhya / Ayutthaya content focuses on the early kingdom, Sukhothai, Thai cultural policy, and the future Khmer conflict.
Includes:
Early Ayutthaya Dynamic Historical Events
Custom Sukhothai union/subjugation/integration path
Centralization vs mandala-style rule flavor
Lawa and Mon cultural events
Thai cultural law content
Unique reforms, laws, privileges, and buildings
Early framework for a future Khmer decline / Angkor situation
Other Stuff
Also includes:
New event pictures and situation backgrounds
Lots of smaller one-off flavor events
Design Goal
This mod is meant to feel like a pile of extra country flavor, not a total conversion.
Expect:
More historical events
More alternate-history choices
More unique modifiers and buildings
More country identity
Some stronger rewards, but usually tied to setup, investment, or long event chains
Still very much a work in progress, and balance will probably keep changing as more content gets added.
