Description:
Introduction

Taking a page out of Path of Exile’s book, this mod adds a system to upgrade your trash loot by combining three into the next tier up. It was made especially with Long War of the Chosen in mind, since selling large piles of low tier attachments to Black Market becomes a frequent occurrence.

The upgrades are applied through Proving Ground projects, by default.

Configuration

Use XComGameData.ini to modify the upgrade recipes. You can modify the global defaults of project length, whether the project is handled by research or Proving Ground, and whether it is instant (if in research).

The individual upgrade recipes describe which items upgrade to which. If you’re playing with mods that add suitable upgrades, you can define your own recipes in config. You may also supply required techs, required DLCs/mods, or a custom image. See documentation in XComGameData.ini for details.

Localization is handled automatically.

Compatibility

This mod can be added mid-campaign. It can also be removed mid-campaign, just try to not be in the middle of a project added by this mod when you do.

If [WOTC] Custom Item Name Formats is enabled, then item names appear colored wherever this mod’s techs mention them, like in project title. If you don’t want this, change the run order in XComGame.ini from RunAfter to RunBefore.

If [WOTC] Color Your Techs is enabled, then this mod mimics its functionality and assigns a color defined in XComGameData.ini. Both Custom Item Name Formats and Color Your Techs can be used together.

No conflicts with other mods expected.

Related mods

Vanilla players may be interested in [WOTC] Proving Ground Overhaul V2, which provides retrofit projects. Those allow upgrading attachments from one tier to the next. However, I’m a LWOTC player, and PGO’s additions overlap a lot with what LWOTC does, so this mod is a lighterweight alternative.

Known Issues

The item name PCS: Advanced Speed may be rendered incorrectly because base game omits its FriendlyNamePlural.
