New Units for Pontus and Galatia
This mod adds five new units to Pontus and three new units to Galatia. It also changes the appearance of some existing Pontic units to show their distinct Hellenic/Iranic influences, and changes the appearance of some existing Galatian units to reflect a slight Hellenic influence whilst preserving their strong Celtic character.
New Units for Pontus:
Pontic Noble Spearmen (1080) – very heavy spearmen, with bronze cuirasses and hoplons
Mithridatic Legionaries (720) – heavy infantry similar to thorax swordsmen
Pontic Thureos Spearmen (600) – medium spearmen with thureos shields and linothoraxes
Pontic Phalangists (560) – cheap pikemen, lightly armoured with padded linothoraxes
Pontic Scout Cavalry (560) – light skirmisher cavalry armed with javelins, spears and shields
New Units for Galatia:
Galatian Guardsmen (1380) – elite melee infantry like the Egyptian Galatian Royal Guard
Galatian Horsemen (700) – medium melee cavalry, with spears and shields and leather armour
Galatian Peltasts (480) – skirmisher infantry but with good melee attack, with javelins and axes
These units are available in grand campaign, with the Mithridatic Legionaries requiring research of Tactical Flexibility to unlock. I intend to add another Galatian infantry unit in future, either a medium swords unit, an axe unit, or a thureos spears type unit.
