Carthage was a Phoenician state that included, during the 7th–3rd centuries BC, its wider sphere of influence known as the Carthaginian Empire. The empire extended over much of the coast of Northwest Africa as well as encompassing substantial parts of coastal Iberia and the islands of the western Mediterranean Sea.
- New formable nation: Form the City-State of Carthage.
- Unique mission tree:
- Become a trade empire: End the pirating traditions in North Africa and reestablish the great trading nation of Carthage. Found new trade posts, upgrade existing centers of trade and enslave the pirates around you.
- Build a great fleet: Build the greatest fleet the Mediterranean Sea has ever seen. Conquer Italy and defeat your enemy, the Romans.
- New colonies: Look beyond the Mediterranean Sea and establish new colonies across the atlantic
- Unique national ideas: Carthaginian Ideas embrace a freer society, let you become a trade hub, reestablish Punic warriors, build a strong navy and invite more scholars.
- Three new religions: Judaic, Donatist and Canaanite
- Flavor events: Includes 50+ events focusing around Hannibal’s legacy, trade and enslavement.
- Minor features: 5 achievement missions, 2 new government reforms "Punic" & "Canaanite Republic" with "Time of Decadency" mechanic, new Carthaginian culture, and new Carthaginian estate with six privileges
