Realistic African Colonization
UPDATED TO 1.34 – SWEDEN COMPATIBLE
This is a simple mod with three main objectives:
• It prevents colonization of African provinces if they aren’t coastal. No more Spaniards or Englishmen in the interiors of Kenya in 1600!
• It’s now impossible for Europeans to declare war on an African nation if that nation doesn’t control any coastal provinces. In practice, this prevents Europeans from expanding deep into Africa. Africans can still freely declare war amongst each other.
• Maghreb is often overtaken by Spain or Portugal, but this mod applies a province modifier on the whole region that prevents it from being converted to Catholicism (and therefore culturally). This region, with its mountanous terrain and harsh climate, was as impossible to control as Central Africa in this time period for a foreign power. This does not affect the ability for European powers to declare war on Maghrebi nations and viceversa.
I suggest playing this mod with my other mod Eurocentric Colonization (which prevents non-Europeans from colonizing) and especially Eurocentric Institutions (which makes all institutions spawn in Europe and reduces their spread).

Special thanks to @vittorio.turri whose mod No European Expansion in Central Africa was the stepping stone for this one. I wanted to expand on what he did to make things even more realistic, albeit less versatile.
Thanks to @Zemurin for the precious feedback and help on updating the mod.
This mod might not work with Extended Timeline or any other mod that changes core mechanics of the game (like declaring war and colonizing).
