Description:

This mod replaces many unit names (tanks, vehicles, guns, arty, planes, inf) in order to add more authenticity while avoiding too long names. By example :
Selbstfahrlafette für 28/32cm Wurfrahmen auf Infanterie-Schlepper UE (f) -> Wurfrahmen auf UE(f)
Mod friendly. Works with custom multi games.

Description :

    Tanks :

  • Königstiger (Fr) or (Sp) instead of Königstiger(P) or (H). Früh means early (production) and spät, late (production). Both versions were produced by Henschel.
  • no Sherman nicknamed "Jumbo". It is a post-war nickname. It was designated "Assault Tank".
  • no M10 nicknamed "Wolverine" or "Achilles". M10 were designated.."M10" or "Tank Destroyers". "Wolverine" seems to also be a post-war nickname.
  • Stug III Ausf G (Früh) instead of Stug III Ausf F/8, as the one ingame is indeed an Ausf G early version and not an F/8 with extended rectangular armoured boxes on its sides.
    Here a Stug III Ausf F/8 : http://www.tankmuseum.ru/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/stugiiif.jpg
  • GMC M10 instead of GMC M10A1. M10A1 were kept in the US for training or converted.
  • Beute Panzer have all their real German designation.
    Example : Beute Sherman -> Panzer M4 748(a).
  • US tanks and armored cars have no British nicknames but are named : Light Tank, Medium Tank, Airborne Tank, Howitzer Tank…

    Other weapons :

  • "8.8cm FLAK 37" instead of FLAK 41. All Flak 88 mm ingame have the appearance of a Flak 36/37 and not a Flak 41 which has a lower silhouette and a different shield.
    Photo of a Flak 41 : https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/24/88/ca/2488ca0aff9b172095ef994aeca64044.jpg
  • German armoured cars renamed according to the Kriegssprache, which means you will get by ex : PSW P 204(f), lePSW 222, sPSW 234/1, s.PZ.FU.WG. 263.
    Btw, SPW means SchützenPanzerWagen, designation for armoured transports like Sd.Kfz. 250
  • Some weapon names changed : Sten Mk.II, M1A1 Thompson, Lee–Enfield No. 4 Mk.I
    As German weapons of foreign origin, are often used by Allies units, all of them get both designations, by ex : PPsh-41 | MP 717(r)
  • Added bomb weight for bombers

    Miscellaneous :

  • Ace names changed : Knispels Königstiger (Fr), Abe’s M4 Thunderbolt V,
    Wittmans Tiger Ausf E, Harris’s VC Firefly….
  • Added regiment/brigade name to some units from 2è DB, 3rd Can Inf, 1st AD Polish, Demi-Brigade to make them feel even more unique : AM-M8 RMSM, TD M10 RBFM, M10 TD RCA, Sherman Vc Garrys, Sherman Vc Ułani, Stuart V PSK, AMD 35 Panhard GMR
  • "Aufk.Panzer IV" and "Aufk.Panther" corrected to avoid confusion with fictional tanks like WoT Aufklärungspanther. They get their batallion name like that : "Panther Ausf D AufkAbt."
  • Some inf. unit names changed : many German units names are now plural, as they should be. "Ita. Freiwillige" become "Ita. Shützen" to make it more of a professional troop and Schütze is the German translation of Bersaglieri.

Exceptions :

  • Concerning Sherman Firefly name there isn’t much difference compared to the vanilla game (IC Firefly stays IC, and VC stays VC) because it corresponds in terms of stats (the VC Firefly should have the same armor stats as the Sherman V).
    BUT keep in mind that current ingame models should be inverted (IC looks like VC variant and conversely – btw Sherman V ingame model is also wrong)
    "The Sherman VC and IC variants are easily distinguished by their lower hulls; the VC having a riveted lower hull with a curved shape while the IC has a welded and angled lower hull."
    -> "Ironsides : Canadian Armoured Fighting Vehicle Museums and Monuments " (Page 78)
  • "Dodge WC 52 with .50" for the 2è DB should be named "Dodge WC 52 avec .50", but the name is shared by both US (4th AD) and French (2ème DB) divs
  • "Beute Firefly" is named "Jagdpz. M4 748(a)" but there was no official designation for the captured Sherman Fireflies (or nothing proves otherwise yet), so it’s named like that for the following reasons :
    – I compared to an M10 captured in Italy in 1943 and it seems it was designated "Jagdpanzer M10(a)"
    – Panzerjäger was the german designation for tank hunters with an open topped superstructure, the Elefant being the only exception
