The Zealot

"Although banished from the sacred halls of the ecclesiarchy, the fearsome figure known as ‘The Fanatic’ was not without like-minded peers. Indeed, an alarming number of the faithful have banded together under his unorthodox, and rather pitiless, dogmas.

These ‘zealots’ have joined his fervid cause to root out and cleanse all manners of heresy, regardless of the severity.

And now, the Fanatic’s relentless flock have come to the Hamlet; ready to burn the guilty and sinful."

Class Overview

This class concept was borne out of my interest for a vestal that was more up close and personal. I really liked her design but am kinda disappointed that 80% of the time, all she did was heal my party, and on a rare occassion, cast a rather inaccurate bolt of lightning that may or may not finish off annoying stragglers.

So here comes the Zealot; a class that’s nearly identical to her Vestal sister, but diverges from the holy teachings of the Sacred Flame and embraces the brutal methods of the excommunicated Fanatic. Because of such, the Zealot lacks the healing abilities of the Vestal or her divine powers. Instead, the Zealot relies on cold iron and scorching flames. Her intense hatred of all manners of godlessness gives her a wide variety of racial bonuses against her enemies.

Her abiltiies are as follows:

1. Hateful Bash- A crushing blow that deals bonus damage against humans and bloodsuckers.
2. Condemnation- Targets all enemies and has a chance to mark them all briefly. Perfect if you have 2 or more heroes with Mark Synergy. It also gives the Zealot a Protection buff per enemy hit.
3. Consecrate – Douses the two front rows with holy water and applies Blight. It has increased Blight chance vs Unholy, Bloodsucker and Eldritch.
4. Ardent Hammer – Ignites animal fat in the mace and sends a scorching blow against the enemy, delivering a sharp stake through the heart. Deals bonus damage against bloodsuckers. Raises torchlight level by a moderate amount.
5. Burning Brand – Marks the enemy with a hot brand and decreases their accuracy. This mark lasts longer than Condemnation’s mark. Raises torchlight level by a small amount.
6. Seethe – Useable only at 60% Hp or below, this ability, cures the Zealot of bleed and blight, restores a small amount of Hp and gives a massive DMG boost. But such immense hatred also comes with heavy stress.

The Zealot’s special ability:

Sentence The Guilty – Using this will call forth a burning pyre similar to the Fanatic’s, but this one will randomly attack nearby enemies. It has two abilities:

Purgatorial Embrace – Stuns both the enemy and the pyre.
Sinner’s Anguish – Reduces the enemy’s damage but applies bleed on the pyre.

This ability was originally supposed to function like the Fanatic’s, but it was too powerful as the game’s capture mechanic will render a target immobilized until an ally will break him free and seeing as enemies have no way of attacking the pyre, any ‘captured’ enemies were as good as dead.

This ability also greatly increases torchlight level.

Camping abilities:

1. Annointment – decreases stress by a small amount and applies a stresst resist and debuff resist buff.
2. Make Penance – Greatly decreases stress and removes mortality debuffs, but costs 15% Hp. Can only be used on self.
3. Inquisition – Adds stress resist and accuracy against humans and a 12% damage bonus to party.
4. Grudge of the Blood – Adds accuracy and speed against blood suckers, but also increases stress received from them.
