Description:

Reworks The Aztecs for Gathering Storm, alongside changes for Montezuma to lead them.

The intention for the rework was to showcase the importance of Tlacaelel for all potential Aztec leaders, as well as adding Floating Gardens (Chinampas) as the base infraestructure. The idea was to provide a more interesting gameplay for the Aztecs. As a result of this the Tlachtli was moved to Montezuma, alongside some changes for it as well. Aside from this the Eagle Warrior has been moved further into the tech tree because I found it annoying that the Aztec unique unit unlocks at the start of the game in the Ancient Era.

I just wanted a personal take at making a unique leader for the Aztecs. Balancing Unique Governors is quite tricky, but I did test it ingame and I didn’t feel it super OP, of course tweaks can be made over time.

If you detest the inclussion of a unique governor, you can delete Governors_AztecRework.sql from the mod files alongside my respect for you.

If you like having your instant Eagle Warriors then delete Units_AztecRework.sql

LUB: Tlachtli
Aztec replacement for the Barracks when Montezuma is their leader.
Cannot be built if a Stable has already been built in this district.
Aside from the regular Barrack bonuses provides:
+1 Free Promotion for trained Melee, Ranged and Anti-Cavalry units if the city is Ecstatic.
+1 Amenity from Entertainment instead of Housing
+1 Faith per Specialist in this district.

The Chinampa has different assets when it has managed to copy a resource for its tile. However, this visual change only works for Vanilla, p0kiel’s, Sukritact’s and my own Latinamerican Resources.

When Alternate Economy mode is active the Chinampa no longer copies Luxuries as it was far too broken with the monopoly bonuses. This is however restored if you play with Monopoly++: Tycoons and Investors.

Additionally, this mod fixes the lack of Ethnicity in Aztec icons.

Special thanks to Lime for writing the Pedias and other texts.
