Land Clearing
Here’s a new helpful and simple mod.
During the Middle Ages, lot of woods, forests, etc… were cleared to transform these territories into farmlands. With this comes also the swamp clearing and land reclaimation on coastlines(Well-known examples is the Lowlands or England/France for swamps or forest clearing respectively).
This mod tries to bring this in EU4!
Any maluses to development or supply by the terrain is made nul by building woods, forest, swamps(for marsh and coastline) or jungle clearing buildings.
You also gain 1 building slot(technically 2, but you already use 1 for the building itself).
This make those provinces act like grasslands(except for battles as they still act like their original terrain).
However, clearing your forest makes tropical woods much less profitable! So the Woods, Forest and Jungle Clearing buildings give a -33% goods produce penalty if you built it on tropical woods producing provinces!
So now, you can make a true capital of 50 dev that isn’t technically forest or jungle!
You can also do some earth works in your realms which grant small bonuses to development cost, goods produce and supply limit.
The Basic and Improved irrigation is for Desert, Coastal Desert, Steppes, Savannah and Drylands. Terrace Irrigation is for Highlands, Hills and Mountains (that are not eligable for the Expended Mining building).
Their special goods buff are: Grain, Wine, Tea, Spices, Coffee, Cotton, Sugar and Cocoa.
Expended Mining are for Highlands, Hills and Mountains producing one of the following good: Iron, Copper, Coal, Gold Gems and Salt, it replaces the Terrace Irrigation in those provinces.
All these buildings cost 10 monarch points in each category, except for basic and improved irrigations costing you only money. (Canceling the construction will refund the monarch points)
Now, if you want to play a tall game even as a country that doesn’t have the best terrain for it, you can!
You do not start with all building unlocked. You unlock them with admin tech:
-Terrace Irrigation: at the start
-Woods Clearing: tech 2
-Basic Irrigation: tech 3
-Forest Cleaning: tech 9
-Swamps Clearing & Improved Irrigation: tech 13
-Expended Mining: tech 16
-Jungle Clearing: tech 21
Not compatible with Extended Timeline or any other mod that modify buildings or admin tech.
I’m deeply sorry for those who wanted but I’m not personally making any compatible version with other mods. However, if you want to make compatible versions yourself, feel free to do so! (just credit the original mod obviously).
