Upgrade Units
Allows you to upgrade some of the units into other units if they have a high enough experience rank.

We’ve avoided upgrades that make no lore sense or are a huge combat style jump (for example going from cavalry with bow to lance).
If you can recruit the unit you’re upgrading to locally the rank requirement is lowered by 2, if you can recruit it globally it’s lowered by 1. The upgrade cost is also scaled by this.
Units will now keep half of their rank (rounded down) when upgrading.
This is a script mod, so compatible with everything (yes, that means SFO etc.), submods just allow for upgrade paths for new units the mods add.
It can be added and removed in existing saves.
I tried to make it compatible with MP, but had some reports it’s not MP compatible.

Has some options via the Mod Configuration Tool.
You can enable upgrades for AI factions with a MCT option, best from the start of the campaign since I need to track the experience of AI units manually.
You can disable unit upgrades that come with this mod, if you only want upgrades from another mod or from a submod.
The upgrades will check for unit caps, and will check the cap limits in the Tabletop Unit Caps mod if you have that mod enabled.
This is the SFO submod, use it as an example to add upgrade paths for mod units. I don’t have the time to make submods for the vast amount of unit mods out there, but making them is actually very simple.

Load order doesn’t matter for submods. Submods are also very unlikely to ever become outdated since they’re very simple scripts that are unlikely to get broken by patch changes.
Add/remove/change a unit upgrade?
All the possible unit upgrades are definitely subject to change, and it’s something I can change easily. Use the discussion thread below for that.
If the mod doesn’t work for you the most likely cause is your ingame scripts are broken because some other mod you have has a script error and that makes other script mods stop working as well. Try this mod by itself to make sure.
