Arborist of the Rim
Current Build: 1.8
Many unique trees exist out there in space. On the Rim, you’ll probably encounter them all. What dark whispers do they sing into your mind? Songs of power. Power awaits you, but you don’t want power. You really, really don’t.
My first mod, lots of stuff to add here.
DESCRIPTION:
There are so many "strange and interesting plant" (thanks Little Shop of Horrors) varieties across the Rim, and I thought they should be able to be made more abundant. Plus, what’s the harm in combining them into single trees with multiple effects? Mad science hasn’t gone far enough on the Rim yet, has it?
I want to reward resourceful Tribal players, but really I’d like to see what happens when any group of crazy people are somehow equipped with magical wooden clothing.
Expect a lot of changes irregularly. Only most of them are written below.
MOD FUNCTIONS:
When Burned Trees decay completely, small amounts of a unique resource is left behind. You’ll need a lot of this.
Anima Trees now produce Living Sawdust. Extract a seed from Living Sawdust to make a Domesticated Anima Tree. Natural Anima Trees will regrow after the first one is chopped to bits.
If you get an event with either an Ocular Jelly or Oculisk, they’ll convert existing trees into Alien Trees, which produce Red Wood when chopped down. Extract a seed from Red Wood to get the Domesticated Alien Tree.
All Domesticated event trees can be crossbred with each other at the Plant Processing work table, which produce new resources.
Tiberium Chunks of all three colors (green, blue, red) produce their own light.
Green Tiberium Chunks can be chopped up at the stone table into Green Tiberium Crystals.
Green Tiberium Crystal can be used to make walls, which glow with their own light.
See the patch note section for further information.
MODS HISTORICALLY REFERENCED BY THIS MOD:
(Current or Future)
Alpha Animals: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1541721856
Created by my buddy Sarg Bjornson. Adds all sorts of animals, and almost every one of them adds a new mechanic to the game overall. Plus, it’s one of the mods used by the same creator’s Genetic Rim!
Seeds Please: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=935732834
Created by Charlotte. Initially, this mod will make growing any kind of food very difficult! However, as you buy seeds, find seeds, kill people for seeds, or extract seeds from fruits and vegetables, you’ll be very well off. Creating a huge stockpile of lavish meals becomes effortless since you’ll be able to grow plants from every biome.
PLANS FOR THE FUTURE:
– Tear out the Obelisk from Cults so only the tree can be chosen when the event activates (so they won’t spawn naturally, but can be grown, and also you’re guaranteed to get one)
– Red Wood harvested from an Alien Tree should add a bonus since the description says it smells good
– Make Tiberian Wood able to be used like normal wood, but with penalties
– Make Tiberium Crystals able to be used like normal Stone Blocks, but with penalties
– Implement tiberium terraforming
– Create tiberian land tiles
– Create tiberian severity differences
– Create a tiberium meteor event
BEGIN THE MOD’S REAL GOALS:
Anima: Self-healing spirit tree that rewards Natural focus users with psychic powers.
Alien: Tree that exists as a byproduct of extradimensional entities passing through the area. But while present, plantlife in the immediate vicinity is terraformed quickly.
Nightmare: A hole between dimensions that is shaped vaguely like a tree, so it grows like one. Intentionally and aggressively drives everyone insane. Everyone under the tree’s power is happy about what it does, where everyone else is horrified.
Tiberium: A tree that is a mutant byproduct of an aggressive terraforming technique of unknown origins. Glows with its own light, which is radioactive and mutagenic, and affects rock, metal, plant, and animal.
This mod makes it possible to crossbreed these things! It’s a very high risk / reward system and the only colonies that might survive are overseen by players that are both smart and lucky.
