Универсам (универсальный магазин самооблуживания) – это один из первых советских супермаркетов в современном понимании слова. Правда, в отличие от универмагов, там продавали исключительно продукты и хозяйственные товары. Такие магазины массово строились в 70-х – начале 80-х в новых районах по типовому проекту: впрочем, детали зданий могли отличаться. Однако неизменной оставалась узнаваемая надпись на фасаде, которая стала своего рода торговой маркой.

Первоначально планировалось, что продаваться будет и алкоголь, но, к сожалению, граждане не покупают его нигде, кроме как в пабе. Возможно, позже разработчики изменят это и я смогу снова добавить алкоголь в этот магазин.

Universam (i.e. universal self-service store) is one of the first Soviet supermarkets in the modern sense of the word. However they sold only products and household goods. Such stores were massively built in the late 70’s – early 80’s in new districts according to a typical project: however, some details of the buildings could differ. Still, the recognizable inscription on the facade, which became a kind of trademark, remained unchanged.

Originally, it was planned that alcohol would also be sold, but unfortunately, citizens do not buy it anywhere except in the pub. Perhaps later the developers will change this and I will be able to add alcohol to this store again.
