Description:

RBMK-1500 nuclear power plant. The main carachteristics of this mod are as follows:
– 110 workers needes
– 90 engineers needed
– 15 High Voltage connections
– 1 road connection with two loading spaces
– 3 factory connections
– 2 perdestrians connections

The launching design is Ignalina NPP unit 1 and 2, possible the later designs for unit-3 and 4, also of Kostroma NPP, will be following later.

The plant have cooling connection for two cooling devices. Because a RBMK-1500 doesn’t use cooling towers, there is a cooling water pump house and a cooling water outtake (Gravity-fed basin) included. The model was updated in September 2022 for water and sewage connections.

Water Update: The RBMK-1500 has now a cooling water pump house included for feed the plant with water (water well) and a coolant outtake for sewage removal (sewage outtake). The water doesn’t need a treatment plant, since the plant just use the water to cool it. Minimum water quality is 50%. For the steam connections, just use two discharges or add cooling towers if space on the water body is limited. Means with water and sewage activated, you must build the RBMK-1500 on a water source (river, lake), or you can’t supply the coolant needs. Don’t use other water sources, since the pumping house is specially designed for this power plant and water requirement is 1000 m3 at full production.

The model is in original scale. Because of that be aware, that the single unit RBMK-1500 plant is bigger than a vanilla double unit nuclear power plant, because the in-game model is not in original scale. I added the main entrance building to the unit and the SAOR-Tank building left from the reactor building. The main model is Ignalina unit-2, which differs a bit from Ignalina unit-1, some parts are more easy modeled for ingame optimization. To build it in original configuration with a multi unit site, place the second unit turbine hall directly on the turbine building of the first unit. Because of that option, I don’t added the rail connections to the reactor building.

Historical information: The RBMK-1500 was the last and most advanced RBMK design, that was established in the USSR. Despite the planning of eight units of this type, only one was ever built at Ignalina NPP in Lithuania. On the shore of Lake Drūkšiai, two RBMK-1500 where in operation between 1983 and 2009. Lithuania committed the shut down of the plant for joining the European Union. Construction of Ignalina-3 and 4 was stopped in 1989, construction on Kostroma-1 and 2 and on Smolensk-5 and 6 was never started. The overall design is very similar to the RBMK-1000 and the main configuration of the reactor was not changed. The power was only raised with some modifications to the fuel channels and fuel elements. The control system of the RBMK-1500 is more advanced and is a real time process system. After the end of the USSR, the RBMK-1500 was modified to raise the safety and availability of the units. For that reason to have a higher margin to design limits, the power of both units where lowered from 1500 MW to 1350 MW.
