This is a port and slight rebalance of Iridar’s Akimbo class for Long War of the Chosen; you should visit that page to find out more about all of the original abilities the Akimbo has. Check out the main class tree here[docs.google.com]. As the Akimbo is now set up for LWOTC, they have a 4-tier XCOM row in addition to three main ability rows. They do not get the pistol row, as those abilities are either in their main tree, XCOM deck, or are excluded due to redundancy with unique Akimbo skills.

Unlike most of my other class mods, this one overrides the original Akimbo class, rather than setting up a new "LWS" class. I did this in order to ensure that the Akimbo’s class intro movie was kept intact. You’ll need to respec any existing Akimbos (if you had any) if you’re adding this to an existing campaign.

The Akimbo starts with the Dual Weapon Specialization, Pistol Whip and Scout’s Watch abilities at Squaddie rank, and has 3 specializations in their main ability tree.

  • Gun Fu is very similar to the original version of this specialization, with the addition of the Faceoff ability.
  • Scrapper is very similar to the original version of this specialization, with the addition of the Dirty Kick ability. (This tree may be adjusted later if Iridar changes the Dirty Kick ability to no longer always be non-turn-ending even with a dash move.)
  • Flexible is an expansion of the original Supplementary tree from just 3 abilities to a full row, focusing on abilities that can help the Akimbo regardless of whether they choose to focus on ranged or melee fighting.

Other changes:
  • Akimbos do not get a pistol slot by default, as they equip pistols as both primary and secondary weapons. If you don’t care about that it’s easy enough to config a pistol slot in for them.
  • Akimbos cannot equip the Whippit Shotgun from Mod Jam. This is for balance reasons, as Pistol Whip is completely overpowered when using it. You can config this out in this mod’s XComGame.ini if you don’t care about balance.

Mod Requirements
  • In addition to the requirements listed on the side, Long War of the Chosen is required.[www.nexusmods.com] There’s very little point to using this mod without LWOTC.
  • Inventory Slot Weight Toggler is not technically required to make the mod run, but I’m listing it as required since pistols have 1 weight each in LWOTC, and -2 mobility on top of utility slot items’ weight would just hurt this class way too much.
  • Not a hard requirement, but I suggest grabbing Mod Jam. I recently updated it with support for True Primary Secondaries and Dual Wielded Pistols 2.0.

Conflicts
  • There should be no conflicts to speak of. Make sure you use True Primary Secondaries, and NOT the original Primary Secondaries. The original is not really compatible with LWOTC as it doesn’t play nice with single-builds. At the very least, don’t use TPS and the original together.
