Description:

The present mod is inspired by a marvel of late soviet architecture, the State Opera and Ballet Theater of the Chuvashian ASSR, built in Cheboksary in 1975 (?).

Entirely modeled in Blender using whatever photos I could find of it and google streetview, it is mostly loyal to the original model (prior to its post-Soviet additions), with some liberties taken to account for parts I could not get access to, and the fact that the original is built on sloped terrain. In addition, the exact proportions of the building were all
estimated by eye and on the go.

I begun working on it during last August, as an experimentation to apply my blender lessons from Comrade OffTheRails’ awesome tutorials, and test my skills. As a result it may have more fine details that would be considered reasonable for the game’s requirements.
Veteran modders will probably find occasional oddities or rookie mistakes in it.

Thanks to its unique style/shape, this building (size slightly smaller than the vanilla CP HQ) can be built as a ”main attraction” of a medium or large city. Consequently, it’s reasonably expensive to build, and requires some electronic and mechanic parts as well, as one would expect from a modern grand theater.

The mod proposes 2 variants:
– the theater (cinema in game jargon), employing a max of 150 workers and entertaining 1500 citizens at max capacity;
– the same building but as a radio broadcaster, employing a max of 120 workers and 50 specialists, in case you’d rather provide cultural and other satisfaction to your citizens directly in their homes. This variant requires a bit more electronics and electricity consumption to work than the previous one.

NB: as can be seen in one of the photos, I coded some external lights in front of the main entrance, and on top of the highest point of the tower (think of our comrade helicopter pilots :p ). They are left as an option for you to activate, because often comrades complain about the way they display in their games and ultimately don’t like having them. If you wish to activate them however it’s as easy as pelmeny: go to the mod’s folder, open renderconfig.ini, and move the line with the command END to the bottom of the file. Save and you’re done.

Making this mod has been quite a journey from me, including going from getting instant PTSD just from looking at Blender’s interface to realizing ”♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, I’m loving this now, more pls”. Like for my previous mod, the merit for this goes almost entirely to Comrade OffTheRails and his exquisite tutorials that really help a beginner focus on the essentials of Blender for game mods. I also thank Comrade Dimitry/dimndroll for his input and testing.

If you’re into this sort of thing, and want to ”motivate” me to spend more time making mods of epic real life Soviet buildings, you can toss a coin my way here, if you wish: paypal.me/gosstroy0, tank u tank u.
