Amtrak Viewliner I Sleeping Cars
Amtrak’s Viewliners are the single-level sleeping cars used on long-distance east coast trains such as the Lakeshore Limited and Silver Meteor. Originally prototyped by Budd, 50 sleeping cars were built by Morrison-Knudsen and delivered in 1994, replacing sleeping cars in the Heritage Fleet. These cars feature 12 roomettes and 3 bedrooms, one of which is accessible. Eight cars are included:
Phase IV (1994):
#62023 | Mystic View
#62039 | Summer View
#62047 | Village View
#62048 | Wayside View
Phase VI early (2007):
#62011 | Gulf View
#62016 | Lake View
Phase VI modern (2010):
#62004 – names were removed
Phase III new (2016):
#62043 | New River – the only Viewliner I to receive a new Phase III livery
