Dunadd

City-State Trait: Fishing Boats of Colonies on other continents than your Capital provide +2 Production. Cities on other continents also get +2 Amenities.

City-State Type: Militaristic

History:
Occupied from the Iron Age, the site then became the seat of the kings of Dal Riata. The kingdom of Dal Riata, appears in Argyll during the early centuries, after the Romans withdrew from Scotland. The rulers of Argyll were Gaelic speakers who had crossed the sea from Ireland. Dunadd is famous for his rare stone carving under the upper enclosure depicting a human footprint and a basin believed to have been used for the coronation ritual of kings. On the same outcrop on the flat of the rock is an engraved Picte-style boar, and an ogham inscription. Dunadd is mentioned twice in the first sources, in 683, in the Annals of Ulster. The site is still occupied after 736, at least until the 9th century. It is mentioned twice in later sources, which suggests that it is still of some importance. The site is a historic monument, under the control of Historic Scotland.
