Description:

NOTE: Please load the mod on top of the load order; since some mods contain the old textures for some reason, if they are loaded on top of this mod the textures will be vanilla. Same goes for all texture replacement mods, such as the clean texture mod mentioned below.

This mod aims to retexture all bronze equipment in vanilla Rome II, taking full advantage of the game’s rendering by remaking all textures from the ground up to achieve similar effect to the assets included in the Rise of the Republic DLC and Celticus’ and Benjin’s Rome II HD mods. The vanilla textures used to stick out like a sore thumb in comparison to those, but hopefully no longer.

I retextured those using Substance Painter, using base game meshes and normal maps, in some cases remaking those from scratch as they were too low quality to be properly retextured.

The alpha version of the mod includes most of hellenic, italian and roman bronze equipment, such as helmets, breastplates, greaves and shields. Hopefully I will be able to finish rest of bronze equipment, such as celtic or eastern, and perhaps move on to iron. There may be some quirks with the textures, in which case please feel free to contact me directly with a screenshot so I could fix them.

SPECIAL THANKS:

I’d like to thank Celticus and Benjin for helping me out with the texturing process and the kind words of appreciation. Their mods inspired me to commit to this project fully and see it through. Also, I used their models as reference for my own textures. I’d also like to thank the author of Rome at War mod for Mount and Blade: Warband, as I used his beutiful models as references to whenever I had to manually remake the models from scratch. If you play Warband, definitely check his mod out.

NOTE: Screenshots taken with Clean Texture For Rome II mod by Kagarino Kirie. It replaces decalt dirtmap textures with blanks, which results in clean textures, metal or otherwise. Until I figure out my custom dirtmaps, use this one for best effect.
