Description:

Finally, my next character mod. As soon as I saw an image of this unused boss from the game files, I knew I had to make a mod of her. You can actually thank her for me getting off my butt and getting my other 3 mods working for Repentance (so I wouldn’t feel guilty working on this one).

Given that all we have is a named file and picture of the boss, I took some liberties with how I wanted her to operate as a character. The general idea is that Maid in the Mist (who I’ll just call The Maiden for bevity) cannot shoot, and instead relies on her Willo buddies for combat.
While firing, you can summon a set number of Willos roughly equal to your Tear Rate * 2 (rounded up). These Willos will lock onto the nearest enemy once summoned and will circle around them occasionally firing projectiles that are affected by your damage stat. To help them not all immediatly die, they also have signficantly boosted HP. They’ll also destroy poops and fireplaces (but not white poops or blue/purple/white fireplaces).

But before you worry about your poor Willos doing all the work, know that you’ve got a job to do as well! The Maiden starts with a pocket item, her Mist Baton. When you use it, 4 icons appear indicating what command you’ll issue to the Willos. By pressing the corresponding fire button after activating the Baton, you’ll expend the Baton charge and the Willos will act. The Baton recharges while in a room.

———- Willo Actions ———-
UP – Re-Target: Your Willos will switch targets and all focus on whatever enemy is nearest you at the time of the command. Helpful for when getting rushed down by a baddie.
LEFT – Die: Kill all Willos and do a small amount of damage to enemies per Willo. Sad to say, there are some situations where the Willos just need to leave. Whether they’re stuck out of the room or their buzzing is annoying you, you can issue the command for them to all die :c
RIGHT – Heal: You’ll heal all Willos not only back up to full health, but actually a little higher than their starting HP. Useful for Willos acting as bullet sponges.
DOWN – Shoot: The most important action; your Willos will all fire a tear on their target. These tears will take the properties of your own tears, and will even take some of the more exotic tear properties (but not all).

========== Special Interactions ==========
These items give an extra effect you’ll want to take note of:
20/20: Can summon extra Willos. The number of Willos summoned at once is multiplied by 2.
Inner Eye: Can summon extra Willos. The number of Willos summoned at once is multiplied by 3.
Mutant Spider: Can summon extra Willos. The number of Willos summoned at once is multiplied by 4.
Monstro’s Lung: Will summon up to 5 extra Willos every time one is summoned.
Loki’s Horns: Based on Luck stat, may summon 4 extra Willos.
Mom’s Eye: Based on Luck stat, may summon an extra Willo.
Eye Sore: Chance of summoning up to 3 extra Willos.

Brimstone: Willos will fire Brimstone lasers when the Baton command is issued.
Mom’s Knife: Willos will fire Knives when the Baton command is issued.
Tech X: Willos will fire Tech X lasers when the Baton command is issued. Size of laser rings is based on current number of Willos.
Dr. Fetus: Willos will fire bombs when the Baton command is issued (oh no).
Technology: Willos will fire lasers when the Baton command is issued.
Ghost Pepper: Based on Luck stat, Willos may fire a highly damaging flame instead of a tear when the Baton command is issued.
Bird’s Eye: Based on Luck stat, Willos may fire a highly damaging flame instead of a tear when the Baton command is issued.
Chocolate Milk: The tears fired by the Baton command are more damaging and larger as more Willos are active.
Spirit Sword: Tears fired are instead Sword Beams with higher velocity.
Tech.5: Willos will randomly fire lasers on their targets if any enemies are present
Technology 2: Willos will fire an additional laser to their tear when the Baton command is issued. The laser lingers for just a bit.

Hive Mind: Significantly powers up Willos (with an extra unexpected effect)
Birthright: A secret (but yes it does something)

Bookworm Transformation: Chance of summoning an extra Willo
Conjoined Transformation: Will summon 2 extra Willos
===================================

So let’s talk balance. As with most of my modded characters, this one can lean a little on the strong side. Honestly, I value a unique character experience more than having them match the game’s difficulty. The Maiden shouldn’t be completely overpowered (even Chub can be trouble with his extra spawns), but you’ll probably find room-to-room combat and certain bosses easier. I can rebalance her if I reeeeeally have to, but I’m going to need to see a strong majority of people asking before I consider that.

Anyways, just have fun with the cute ghostie gal.
