Description:

Enter the Age of Bronze

Before Rome, before Caesar, before the rise of Persia or Sparta, the world was forged in bronze. From stone molds and ancient forges in forgotten halls
flowed the wealth of ancient kingdoms, the mighty armies of the Hittites and the magnificent wealth of Knossos.
By the commands of primeval kings great glittering armies of men and chariots fought bloody wars and expanded their dominions, while on the fringes of civilization barbarian tribesmen fought duels and skirmishes in dark pagan forests and great champions clashed on battlefields.
Further to the east, vast hordes of nomads scoured the steppes, falling upon scattered settlements like packs of wolves

This is the beginning of civilization, the rise of the first cities and superpowers. The time when the first emperors carved decrees into stone, where
nations forged their legacies on the anvil of war.

This is a time of heroes, empires, and mighty god-kings. This is the Age of Bronze.

Campaign update now available! Conquer the Bronze Age world as either the Egyptians or the Hittites! More factions to come in the future!

A: As of August 2023 Age of Bronze features two factions in campaign play, and many more available for custom battle mode!

Q: Will there be more factions?
A: Over time we hope to introduce more playable factions in campaign mode, however we cannot give solid release dates for these at this time.

Q: Will Age of Bronze come to Total War: Attila?
A: At this time we do not have any plans to port to Attila.

Q: How can I contribute to Age of Bronze’s development?

Historical FAQ

Q: Will the Israelites be featured in Age of Bronze?
A: While we understand the appeal of playing through one of the most fascinating and important cultures in Ancient History, in the Late Bronze Age the Israelites did not exist as a unified state, and were only just beginning to develop a unique culture. The Israelite kingdom only begins existence immediately after the end date of the mod and as such is not included as a faction, instead period-appropriate units from Canaan are featured.

Q: What is the reasoning for the pike units for the Minoan and Mycenaean factions?
A: Artwork and other sources from the period supports the usage of long spears in combination with full-body shields in combat, however the exact troop formations used with these weapons is uncertain. We have made this units into pikemen as it is the closest approximation we have to whatever combat doctrine these units followed, and we believe that it gives a unique gameplay angle for those factions.

Q: Will you include the Trojan War?
A: The Illiad and the Odyssey are "myth-histories". They are fictionalized accounts written long after our time period, and whilst they are no doubt incredibly valuable historical texts and masterpieces of literature, they are too vague and inconsistent to be of significant use as a solid historical reference. Troy did however exist as a state in the Bronze Age (its ruins are a significant archaeological site) and the Mycenaeans did raid it on multiple documented occasions, and as such it exists as a playable faction in our mod, with proper care given to its historical representation.

Q: I have noticed a historical inaccuracy in the mod, what do I do?
A: In the case you believe you have seen a glaring historical mistake anywhere in the mod, please don’t hesitate to contact us either in the comments or on our Facebook page. We are always striving to improve the historical authenticity of Age of Bronze, and would be keen for anything that can help us in this pursuit.
