Hellenic Royals+
This mod is a collection of mostly high-tier Hellenic-based units, or at least Royal Guard level of troops. Focused primarily on Successor States, with Eastern Greeks and Greek influence on Arabia/Africa. Other Greeks will share some commonalities with the main factions of the mod, with Sparta being a special case of not receiving many of the new units, opting for their own unique one.
Most units are based off of real troops of Ancient Greece, with the only units made without a historical background are:
– Basilikai Paláti Toxotai
– Poseidon’ Deído Kataphraktoi
The idea behind these troops is for some late game variety, which comes at a cost being quite expensive should your Empire not be financially stable.
All units will eventually have their own unique Rome 2 styled unit card.
The DLC is a soft requirement for those who want to play a specific faction with these units. Example: You can use "Basilikai Homoioi Agema" in Custom Battles with Macedon, but you will need Greek States Culture Pack to play with them in the Grand Campaign as Sparta.
(Athens, Syracuse, Eprius, Black Sea Colonies, Successor States, Massilia)
"Royal Hellenic Swordsmen" are available for nearly all Greeks factions with the exclusion of Sparta and those who are Hellenic by culture, but are Eastern factions. They use both sword and spear, these are quite literally the cream of the crop.
(Seleucid, Baktria, Pontus, Colchis)
"Deimos Kataphraktoi", Super-Heavy Shock Cavalry, they’re exceptional shock cavalry and can double as a small force of relentless swordsmen.
(Seleucid, Baktria, Pontus, Pergamon, Colchis)
The "Royal Palace Archer" are Spear armed foot archers with above average rate of fire and a large ammo supply make these archers just a threatening as the spears they wield. They’re masters in Anti-Cav and as such have the ability to activate Cavalry Counter Tactics.
(Egypt, Desert Kingdoms, Carthage)
These soldiers are fashioned like the Carthaginians and trained in Greek tactics. They excel in defence but fall short in offensive capabilities. They’re best protecting flanks from cavalry or holding an enemy unit at bay while awaiting swordsmen to flank. They’re natives to the desert and as such, will not be affected by extreme heat.
(Pergamon, Seleucid, Rome)
A namesake of the Apollonian Guards from the legend of Troy, these soldiers of tradition fight much like their predecessors, put into the front-line of battles and harass with precision javelin-throwing.
(Baktria)
The "Bactrian House Guard" are loyal swordsmen of the ruling Bactrian family. Equipped with Greek armour and an assortment of Eastern and Greek swords and well versed in modern tactics and javelins make for a deadly encounter.
(Sparta)
Royal Spartan Guards fight with honour and to the very end, only the strongest men of Sparta make it into these ranks. They wield an array of arms, being the spear, sword and the javelin. A bonus against charging enemies and a Hoplite Phalanx that will make their foes weary of running head-first into their spears.
(Seleucid, Macedon)
The "Silvershield Swordsmen" are a formation of traditions keeping close to the name of the original Argyraspides. These noblemen will find themselves at the front of the Victory Parade, while behind the scenes these men are trained under the same doctrine of their modern counterpart, while maintaining that Greek Opulence
(Successor States)
Hypaspistai, or "Shield-Bearer" were originally formed under Phillip II of Macedon. Considerably lighter than that of a pike formation, these troops are great for protecting the flanks of those heavier units, while also having the ability to deliver volleys of javelins to enemy forces.
(Massilia, Epirus)
With Celtic influence, these Peltasts are highly effective in both melee and harassing the enemy.
(Seleucid, Macedon, Sparta, Epirus)
An effective late era Armoured-Peltast, armed with sword, javelins and spear to make sure they can provide support from all challenges that may arise on the battlefield.
