JR East KiHa100/110
The JR East Kiha 100/110 diesel railcars were introduced in 1990. Each car features an urban design that sets it apart from conventional diesel railcars based on the concept of urban dynamism.
The Kiha 100 class was manufactured mainly for local trains, and its power-to-weight ratio was greatly improved compared to conventional diesel railcars by installing a powerful Cummins engine in a small 16-meter class car body. The #0 series is equipped with luxurious specifications, including plug doors and curtains, even though it is a local train, as was the case during the bubble period.
The Kiha 110 is a train built for express Rikuchu service. It was the last train built in Japan for express service, and its interior is equipped with swivel reclining seats comparable to those on limited express trains, providing high quality service.
