GMC Steel Tilt Cab

Cab-over-engine trucks were popular practically from the inception of the truck, but it wasn’t until the 1950s when manufacturers began to embrace tilt-cabs and cabs located well ahead of the front axle. GMC debuted its version of a tilt-cab COE heavy duty truck in 1960. While more advanced than its competitors, the eary versions were plagued with technical issues which prevented it from ever overtaking the Ford C-series in popularity. The technical issues were mostly ironed out by 1963 and the GMC Tilt Cab continued to be built, with only minor changes, until 1981.
