Sometimes(few times) the mod crashes trying to load or start a campaing, is due to modding the scripts. Just load again and will work.

Historical Context:

Majorian (Latin: Julius Valerius Maiorianus; c. 420 – 7 August 461) was the western Roman emperor from 457 to 461. A prominent general of the Roman army, Majorian deposed Emperor Avitus in 457 and succeeded him. Majorian was the last emperor to make a concerted effort to restore the Western Roman Empire with its own forces. Possessing little more than Italy, Dalmatia, and some territory in northern Gaul, Majorian campaigned rigorously for three years against the Empire’s enemies. His successors until the fall of the Empire, in 476/480, were actually instruments of their barbarian generals, or emperors chosen and controlled by the Eastern Roman court.

After defeating a Vandal attack on Italy, Majorian launched a campaign against the Visigothic Kingdom in southern Gaul. Defeating king Theodoric II at the Battle of Arelate, Majorian forced the Goths to abandon their possessions in Septimania and Hispania and return to federate status immediately. Majorian then attacked the Burgundian Kingdom, defeating them at the Siege of Lugdunum, expelling them from the Rhone valley and reducing them to federate status.

In 460, Majorian left Gaul to consolidate his hold on Hispania. His generals launched a campaign against the Suebic Kingdom in northwest Hispania, defeating them at the battles of Lucus Augusti and Scallabis and reducing them to federate status as well. His fleet for his planned campaign to recover Africa from the Vandals was destroyed due to treachery.

Majorian sought to reform the imperial administration in order to make it more efficient and just. The powerful general Ricimer deposed and killed Majorian, who had become unpopular with the senatorial aristocracy because of his reforms.

To historian Edward Gibbon, Majorian "presents the welcome discovery of a great and heroic character, such as sometimes arise, in a degenerate age, to vindicate the honour of the human species".[1]

Changelog:

1- Roman units, emperors and generals total reskin

2- Size increased( Startpos and campaign,Infantry 400 cavalry 200)

3- The starting position of some barbaric kingdoms has been changed to represent a more historically accurate scenario. The Vandals are in Campania and Sicily in order to represent their attacks in those regions. The Sardinias have been converted into the Alamans.

4- Diplomatic effects have been changed so now small factions will respect bigger ones, getting into deals easily. This wants to reproduce the real situation of the epoch where the small barbarian kingdoms tended to respect the more powerful Rome even if they had periodic wars.

5- Ai improvement, more changeling campaign where the Ai will be more aggressive. Nevertheless, this in hand with point 4 will reproduce in global, harder wars with the Ai but less common. So to win a war against will be harder than in vanilla but you will have wars with fewer factions( if you use diplomatics wisely)

6- 6 turns per year

7- New battle system with more realistic morale system as well as slower combat. The spacing of the German factions has been increased and the one of the Romans decreased, trying to reproduce a more historically accurate situation. I have just transpose one of my battle mods to this one, you can see the entire battle changelog here:

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2204246229&searchtext=realistic

8- The technology tree of the Roman faction has been modified to avoid the foederati upgrades into skutatois. So you could recruit both together.

9- Trying to represent the loss of important economic sources due to losing the control of Hispania and Africa, the maintenance of roman units has been increased, but not to the foederati units.

10- The conquest of a new region by the Roman expedition( declaration of independence in vanilla) will not produce a war between ERE and WERE. They will maintain their alliance. This will also enable all the diplomatic options for the roman expedition. The name of WERE will not change.

11- The Langpnbards invasion has been reblaced by Herulians invasion, with Odoacer as their leader( turn 90, year 476).

12-Barbarization of the roman army: The barbarians were recruited for the Roman army since the IV century when the roman army size was highly increased, even if it is true that they were more common recruited after frigid river battle and the V century disaster due to the lack of units in the West. Nevertheless, the barbarians had been recruited since the 4th century and they were absorbed inside previous roman units and romanized in terms of equipment, tactics, and culture in just a few generations. Even more, checking the "Notitia Dignitatum" it can be seen that in terms of percentage the "pure" Romans soldiers were more common than the barbarians. Even more the "Notitia Dignitatum" shows an army of 58000 comitatense in Gaul in 421 and 20000 in 451. Also the the "fabricae"(industries where roman superior equipments where created) where still almost totally in Roman hands, the 45% of the total in the Gallic roman region and another %30-%40 in italy. The continous vicories in gaul in the 5 century by the roman army(Arelate 426, Arelate 430, Narbo Martius 437, Mons Colubratius 438, Catalaunic fields 451, Colonia Agripensis 457, Lugdunum 458 and Arelate 459) and the fact that the protagonist action of Aetiu’s army in the catalaunic fields battle was product of the roman gallic comitatenses units, support the idea of a not "barbarized" roman army. Even if in the V century is true that the amount of the barbaric soldiers was higer than in previous times.

13- All cities walled. Minor cities have 8m walls and major cities have 15m walls.
