Description:

Play the Western Piano! Gain levels in the new Piano skill! (Builds 41.50 or 41.53+)

The Knox Country Conservatory of Music (KCCM) was founded in Muldraugh in June 1993. It is the premier institution for piano instruction in the greater Muldraugh area. They have rated many piano pieces based on difficulty from Levels 0 – Level 10. Only those who have studied the piano can play pieces above Level 0. Using the patented KCCM system, anyone can learn to play the piano at a virtuoso level!

Lower your boredom/unhappiness/stress as you play the piano.
Practice the piano (raising boredom) for the greatest xp gains.

4+ new pieces are unlocked at every level! Ten pieces at level 10!

Warning: Playing the piano can be heard in the world by nearby zombies and players

New Animation – watch the new PlayPiano animations while playing the piano (Automatically installed for 41.51+)

Controller and Multiplayer co-op support!

-This mod is compatible with existing saves.
-ONLY Build 41.50 requires the Extra Skills System
-Players will walk to the front of the piano to play
-The amount of boredom, unhappiness, and stress reduced is small for easier pieces, but the reduction increases with the difficulty level of the piano piece.
-Stop in the middle of playing, and you will still get a partial reduction in boredom/unhappiness/stress
-Piano levels go from 0-10.
-Practice is available from levels 0-4, and generates more xp (and boredom) than playing alone
-There is a maximum amount of xp you can earn practicing or playing – don’t overdo it
-Pianos always face south or east

Special thanks to AuthenticPeach for teaching me about PZ animations and Fragmotion. Without AuthenticPeach, I’d be using the loot animation for playing the piano.

Thanks to Soul Filcher. This would *just* be a Simple Playable Piano without the Extra Skills System.

Thanks to Koteczek for PL translations!

Thanks to Chuck and Yooks for helping me with questions while I was making this mod
Thanks to everyone who helped with my Playable Arcade Machines mod, which I borrowed from heavily to do this mod.

***** FAQ

– How do I install the new animations?
If you are playing with build 41.51 or newer, you don’t have to do anything! The custom animations are installed automatically. For build 41.50, contact me and I will send you manual instructions.

– Is manual installation required?
No. In Build 41.50, if you do not manually install the new animations, you will see the Loot animation when you play the piano. Otherwise, it will work fine.
In Build 41.51 and after, the new animations will be installed automatically.

– Why do I see a surrender animation when I play the piano?
You have enabled animations in the code, but don’t have the new animations in the anim_x folder. When the code can’t find the .x files, it defaults to surrender. Check the installation instructions and place the .x files in the anim_x/Bob folder.

– Why do I see the loot animation when I play the piano?
The code defaults to the loot animation, and must be manually changed.
If you already modified the code to use the new animations, it could be because an update overwrote your change. Please change it again.
If you haven’t modified the code to use the new animations, that is why you are seeing the loot animation.

– Why do I have to manually install the animations?
You only have to if you are using build 41.50.
In build 41.51 PZ started supporting automatic install of custom animations.

– When I try playing the piano, I get an error.
If you are in build 41.50, make sure you have enabled the Extra Skills System, which is required for the Simple Playable Piano mod in 41.50

– What did you use to create the animations?
Fragmotion

– Can you help me use Fragmotion?
No. I barely know how to use it and have no plans to use it again.

– Why have I stopped gaining xp in piano skill?
There are limits to how much xp you can gain in around 7-8 hour time window.

– What are the limits to xp gains per day?
You can gain up to 3000xp in a 7-8 game hr period
You can also only practice for up to 360 seconds worth of sounds (not adjusted for fast forward) per session. After 180 seconds you start to see diminished benefits. This refreshes 7-8 hours after you practice.
You may play for up to 800 seconds worth of pieces for full benefit. After 1200 seconds of play, benefits go way down (xp goes down to 0). This refreshes 7-8 hours after you play.

– Why can’t I practice piano anymore?
Piano practice (accelerated xp gains) is only available until you reach level 5. After that you play to gain xp.

– What’s the best way to gain Piano levels quickly?
Practice 360 seconds (real time, before fast forward) up til level 5, then take a 9 hour break before doing it again.
After level 5, play 1200 seconds (real time, before fast forward) to gain up to 3000xp, then take a 9 hour break before doing it again.
You will not be able to gain many levels per day, and at higher levels it should take you more than a day to gain a level.

– Are there piano skill books?
No

– Why are there no skill books?
I wanted to make sure the rate of skill increase was good even if you didn’t have a skill book. Adding a modifier for having a skill book would just make gaining piano levels go too quickly.

– What is KCCM?
The Knox Country Conservatory of Music (KCCM) was founded in Muldraugh in 1993. It is the premier institution for piano instruction in the greater Muldraugh area. They have rated many piano pieces based on difficulty from Levels 0 – Level 10. Only those who have studied the piano can play pieces above Level 0.
