X-1989 ICEBREAKER, basically a GIANT DRILL

Deepdiver submarine with a powerful laser drill powered by highly radioactive Alien tech.

Flagship of the Pioneer Regiment of BENZIN Corp.

The body is a modified version of the submarine V-1999, featuring external and internal hulls. X-1989 ICEBREAKER designed with the intention of chewing and making itself a path through the ice spikes and other kinds of ice formations.

We are sorry to confirm that the head of design & engineering department of BENZIN Corp.™ sadly passed away, shortly after the completion of the X-1989 ICEBREAKER. The cause of death was determined as suicide by carbon dioxide poisoning. One last statement was found, as follows: "I held the power of the crimson sun in the palm of my hand. Now I have become death, destroyer of the worlds."

The Laser Control room

Or the first room is higly radioactive due to the nature of Alien Coils and their immense power. Radioactivity levels are above 12,000 mSv and using a PUCS suit is MANDATORY when entering the room. Beware, any activity within the first room without necessary protection can cause severe radiation burns and radiation poisoning.

Laser Drill

X-1989 ICEBREAKER features a very powerful laser drill, capable of vaporizing any kind of hard ice in its way. Be advised, laser control room features only the necessary hardware to keep the laser drill in operation. To access the trigger, highest ranked officer in the ship must engage the "LASER DRILL" button, located in the Navigation Console’s interface. Once fired, the laser drill will continue to fire until the trigger is toggled off, or if the Laser Drill’s battery power drops down to %20. To increase the duration of the fire, crew can upgrade the submarine’s supercapacitors. The battery level can be viewed next to the navigation console:

Purpose:

X-1989 ICEBREAKER, designed as a pathfinding, pioneer submarine, that can open new, once thought to be non-existent routes for the residents of Europa by drilling wide holes in the ice and breaking dangerous ice formations into tiny pieces, as demonstrated:

Inspired by Russian Deep Diving submarine "Losharik", and "Virgil" from the movie "The Core"

Note, this submarine is partially Bot-friendly. Bots can run around and do all the tasks except from entering the Laser Control Room and accessing the components located in the room. The reason for this; like mentioned above, the room itself is highly radioactive and requires PUCS suits. Obviously we cant force bots to wear specific suits when entering the specific parts of the submarine and we dont want them to get constantly radiation sickness. Therefore there are no waypoints for friendly AI in the first room and it’s access point, making friendly AI unable to access the first room. This is a drawback, players must do all the repair work concerning the first room.

This submarine is featuring Fabricator, Deconstructor, Medical Fabricator, Research Station, Mine Scanner, 4 coilguns, 7 ballast pumps (for each room) and a double engine system which makes the sub really agile for every direction. It can carry 12 crates, it has 19 bilge pumps for draining flood + 14 duct vents. Designed for campaign, 4-8 people. There is also 4 planters on top of the platform in the medical section, it’s not really ideal but better than nothing.

How does the external and internal hull system work?:

-Each section is protected by a regular submarine hull. Sections are filled with air and the area between the walls of the sections and the outer hull is filled with water. This means that the outermost hull of the submarine can protect against Monsters, Gunfire etc. However it is filled with water and it is necessary to wear diving suit+use an airlock to access this area. This downside provides an amazing ability: since the place between outer hull and interior hull is filled with water, taking any kind of damage to the outer hull does not sink the sub. You can kill the monsters while they are chewing the outher hull — if they chew trough, you still have a double layered interior hull! And the hole on the outer hull cannot effect the sub’s performance. In fact, repairing the outer hull is not necessary, since it only plays a shield role.

WARNING: Do not access the filler area (the place between the external hull and internal hull) while submarine is moving, you will get pinned to a wall. Outer hull repairs must be done when stationary (however like said before, outer hull repair is not really necessary, so you dont need to stop the sub everytime the outer hull gets damaged).
