Description:

Updated for "Total War: WARHAMMER II – The Hammers & Herdstones".

Tired of messing with the diplomacy system until the AI finally agrees to confederate? So why not beat them up and force them into submission?
Spare yourself the hassle and enjoy commanding their glorious legendary lords!

How it works:

Exactly like the vassal option. Capture their last settlement and choose Force Confederation.

Limitations:
  • To prevent the player from snowballing through confederating, AI armies won’t be handed over but disbanded instead. Besides that Force Confederation follows the same rules as confederation by diplomatic means.
  • Vassalage has to be canceled before trying to force confederate a vassal.
  • Does not work for horde factions.
  • Does not work for Norsca and Greenskins, since they have their own confederation mechanic.
  • Won’t work for factions that are not allowed to confederate diplomatically, e.g. TEB (except if you play with Cataph’s TEB mod), Tomb Kings and Vampire Coast factions.

Since force confederation fits Tomb Kings and Vampire Coast thematically I provide a submod for them.

Diplomatic confederation option – mods (the 0.1%)

Make sure to use Vandy’s Confederation Options if you want to change confederation options. Dresden’s "Diplomatic Options – Confederations", "Diplomatic Options – No Confederation" and "Diplomatic Options – Vassal, Liberate & Confederate" are NOT fully compatible. They won’t crash, but dresdens changes are being overwritten by mine.
As already mentioned Vandy’s mod is fully COMPATIBLE. If you don’t intent to change confederation options Dresden’s "Diplomatic Options – Vassal All Factions" and "Diplomatic Options – Liberate All Factions" are fully compatible.
But keep in mind, Force Confederation can’t be enabled or disabled by these types of mods at all, they only change Diplomatic Confederation!

Since I’m apparently bad at explaining why you’d want this mod. Here is an example.
