Merrick’s Anglo-Saxons

Adds the Anglo-Saxons with two leaders, Alfred the Great and Offa of Mercia.

Bretwalda

• Gain +1 Envoy when you create a Great Work of Writing.
• Holy Site Buildings have +1 Great Work of Writing slot.

Thegn (Replaces Pikeman)

• Cheaper to build and purchase.
• +10 Combat Strength during Dark Ages.
• Can construct the Burh (when Alfred is the leader)

Minster (Unique Improvement)

• +2 Faith, increased by +1 at Reformed Church.
• Yields +1 Gold for each adjacent Farm, Plantation or Pasture.
• Grants +1 Great Writer point per turn.
• +1 Housing and +1 Amenity.
• Can only build one in each city.

Revival of Learning

• +2 Faith and +2 Science from each Great Work of Writing.
• Can consume Faith to purchase Campus District buildings.
• Can construct the Burh improvement after Defensive Tactics.

Burh (Unique Improvement)

• Constructed by Builders, Military Engineers, or Thegn.
• Provides same defensive bonus as the Fort.
• Automatically builds a road to the capital from this city, if there is not already one. Also grants a free trading post in the city if there is not already one present.
• +1 Housing
• Can’t be built adjacent to another Burh.

Alfredian Texts

• Likes Civilizations who focus on Science and Culture. Dislikes Civilizations that don’t focus on Science and Culture.

Mercian Supremacy

• +5% Production towards Military Units for each City State you are Suzerain of.
• Each Original Capital or City State you own provides +1 Influence Point per turn.

Offa Rex Mercior

• Likes Civilizations with high Faith. Dislikes Civilizations that share his continent.
